Maritime Rattery is closed, we will no longer be breeding rats. If you're wondering why, it's just that I don't have the time for them like I use to, now that we own horses, goats, rabbits, dog and cat. They don't get the attention they need now and I don't think it's fair to own rats if you can't give them the attention they need. Another thing is that I get too attached to them and seeing them die on me in around 2 years was just to hard on me. I love them too much and get attached to only be with them for 2 years. They just need to live longer... When it comes to coat types and rats there are just too many different ones. So I thought I'd post a link to a good site on them, this site gives detailed info on each coat type. http://www.ratbehavior.org/CoatTypes.htm

**Tip** Is your rat nibbling on your fingers and you don't like it, or are they getting rough when playing with you? What you can do is, make a high pitch "PEEP" sound at them every time they do it. This way you are using rat language and telling them that they are rough."Ouch!" They will get the idea and be more gentle with their little teeth next time. A rat should never bite to make you bleed NEVER unless it is a pregnant mom or a nursing mom, also sometimes if a rat is in pain too they could. If it does; you haven't socialized it well, or you had supper on your fingers and the rat thought it was a treat. (This is why you should always use their name and say "----- TREAT" before giving them one.) or you got your rat from a bad line?
